Prior to the data recovery, look for the amount of scratches on the writable surface of the disk. You can make the disk playable again, by treating the scratches.
Follow these steps:
• First, clean the writeable surface of the disc with a soft cloth. You can also use a gentle detergent. Make sure that there are no finger prints or dark patches. Do not scrub too hard.
• Now apply some toothpaste or polish on the scratched surface. Use minimal quantity.
• Lastly, rub with a cloth gently from the center of the disc to the outer periphery. If fortunate enough, you might discover that the scratches have diminished to a great extent. The remaining faint ones would disappear in the near future.
